Math homework Ax+By=C?

how do i find a perpendicular line across fromk this on containing certain points

Math homework Ax+By=C?
well you always want to put it into slope intercept form which is y= mx+b

so you would take your equation and solve for y

Ax+By = C

By= -Ax+C

y = -A/Bx+C/B

your slope is m so the number in fornt of the x is your slope

to find a perpendicular line to this line you take your slope and turn it into the a negative reciprical. so that means turn the fraction upside down and if its positive turn it into a negative and if its a negative turn it into a positive

so your perpendicalr line to this would have a slope of +B/A

now to find the line you plug in one of those points you have and the slope into this formula

y-ysub1=m(x-xsub1)

ysub1 and xsub1 are the x and y points on one of the points and m is the slope and then just solve for y
