Math help C + 2/3 = 5?

the anwer is 4 1/3

Can someone pls spell this out for me? thx

Math help C + 2/3 = 5?
This is a fairly simple algebra problem. The easiest way to solve this would be to try and get your variables (letters, in this case "C") on one side and your constants (numbers, in this case 5 and 2/3) on the other side of the equals sign. Simplest way to do this is to subtract 2/3 from both sides of the equation like this:

C + 2/3 - 2/3 = 5 - 2/3

Subtracting 2/3 from 2/3 leaves you with 0 and subtracting 2/3 from 5 leaves you with 4 and 1/3. Thus, C = 4 and 1/3, or C = 13/3.

You can check this answer by substituting it in place of C like this:

(4 and 1/3) + 2/3 = 5

This is true, therefore your answer must be correct.
Reply:C + 2/3 = 5 subtract 2/3 from each side.

C +2/3 - 2/3 = 5 - 2/3

C = 5 - 2/3 = 4 1/3

Reply:Your aim is to get C alone to do that you must remove everything that is on its side of the equation- (in this problem the 2/3) to remove it you must subtract it from both sides because what ever you do to one side you MUST do to the other. then your equation is C= 5-2/3. To figure out what 5-2/3 is make 5 a fraction which would be 5/1- 2/3 and then get a common denominator which would be 3 and multiply 3 to both the top and bottom of (5/1) getting 15/3 now you can subtract because you have the same denominator. so 15- 2= 13 and its over 3. now you have to reduce it- so how divide 13 by 3 and you get 4 with a reminder of 1 so the 1 needs to be divided by 3 also so you get 4 1/3

hope this helps
Reply:you subtract 2/3 from both sides.
Reply:c + (2/3) = 5

subtract (2/3) from both sides and youre left with

c = 4 (1/3)

-----broken down if you dont understand above--------

5 = 15/3

therefor the equation reads:

C + (2/3) = (15/3)

subtract (2/3) from both sides leaving

C = (13/3) or 4 (1/3)

----fraction help-------

(13/3) = 4 (1/3)

if you take 4 and multiply it by (3/3) you get (12/3) and then add (1/3) to it and you get (13/3)

----problem showing the sub. of (15/3) and (2/3)------

(15/3) - (2/3) = (13/3) or 4 (1/3)
