Challenging math problem. 60ml of solution A is mixed with 120ml of solution B to produce solution C with....?

60ml of solution A is mixed with 120ml of solution B to produce solution C with 8% pure acid. If 80ml of solution A is mixed with 40ml of solution B. 10% acid is produced. how much % acid is in Solution A.

a little guide will help. EXAM TOMOROW

Challenging math problem. 60ml of solution A is mixed with 120ml of solution B to produce solution C with....?
let there be x% acidic of sol. A and y% acidic of sol. B.

60x + 120y = (60+120)*8 = 180*8

x + 2y = 3*8 = 24

80x + 40y = (80+40)*10 = 120*10

2x + y = 3*10 = 30

4x - x = 60 - 24

3x = 36

x = 12%
Reply:first mixed=180ml

8%of it is 14.4ml of pure acid

2nd mixed=120ml

10% is 12ml of pure acid

let x be the concentration of A

let y be the concentration of B

60x+120y=14.4

80x+40y=12

solve for x and y

240x-60x=36-14.4

180x=21.6

x=12%

therefore the solution A is 12%

nil
