Do you think a C in 8th grade math is an awful grade? What would you do/say if your kid got one?

I've been on high honors all 3 years of middle school and this C is my first. I did my best but my mom doesn't accept it. She says 'things will change at home' but my dad says all he can ask for is for me to do my best - as long as I don't flunk. What would you say? I feel like my mom sets me very high standards most of the time....

If my son brought home a C and I know he is use to getting high honors, I would accept it because I know he tried his best. Don't sweat it kid the reason your mom probably sets such high standards for you is because when she was your age she wished she had someone to push her. I know when I was in junior and high school I was content with just a passing grade but now that I am older and have a son in the same grade as you I wish I had worked harder. We as parents only want the best for our kids. Good Luck honey.
Reply:c is average.

study to get a b next time
Reply:In 8th grade, a C is not good for someone like you. By the time you get to 12th grade, the stuff is SOO much harder, you need to know all this earlier stuff just to keep up.

She sets high standards for you because she loves you, and wants you to do well in life.
Reply:well, for me, i got c's and b's mostly and i do try my best. as long as i don't fail my parents don't care. my parents are not strict with me for grades, and a C is averge so its not bad. as long as u tryed
Reply:I would say that you have room for improvement... but 8th grade is a time when the material being taught gets more difficult. It may just be that you hit a road bump and the material is finally getting more difficult for you. In my books, I feel that a C is not great but definitely not the greatest.
